Dr. Brian Greene (born February 9, 1963, New York City, New York is a Columbia University physicist and string theorist known to the general public for popularizing physics with his books The Elegant Universe, The Fabric of the Cosmos and Icarus at the Edge of Time, as well as related television specials.

Character Information

In "The Herb Garden Germination", Brian Greene introduces The Hidden Reality at a bookstore, discussing parallel universes and Heisenberg's uncertainty principle without presuming any knowledge about mathematics or physics on the part of the reader. A thoroughly amused Sheldon insults Dr. Greene, asking him why he doesn't do something more useful than educating the general populace about scientific ideas, and suggests reading non-Greene books to the elderly instead. Sheldon covers up his condescension by stating he was joking and is a big fan, but actually finds how he "dumbs down Werner Heisenberg for the crowd" hysterical.
